An Easy-To-Make Cappucine Recipe for the Holidays
How to Make an Easy Mocha Cappuccino
The holidays are a time to treat the heart and the taste buds. The heart is treated when the kids come home and just hang out for a few days. Hopefully there is plenty of time for relaxing, reminiscing, and catching up. Watching plenty of football is a good idea, too.
The taste buds are treated with an array of special food and drinks. Every family has its favorite dishes, some that have been around for generations. My wife and I have some that have drifted down both sides of the family tree and now are favorites of the kids.
Even with a regular menu of favorite foods, the holidays are also a great time to introduce new ones. This year our family will be indulging in an easy-to-make mocha cappuccino that we been enjoying this year.
You can easily pay $3 to $5 for a mocha cappuccino at a fancy coffee house, but that you can make at home for a fraction of the cost. And from reports I’ve had from those who have tasted this recipe, it is every bit as good. Here it is.
Put a cup of coffee in the refrigerator until it cools down. The colder it is the better. Then, pour the coffee into a blender with one to 1 ½ cups of milk. Some recipes call for heavy cream at this point, which I used a time or two, but it becomes quite expensive. Instead, I substitute vanilla ice cream, and it doesn’t have to be one of the more expensive brands. Scoop a liberal amount into the blender. The more you add the thicker the drink will be. Then, add a liberal amount of chocolate syrup with it, and throw in a few ice cubes. The next step is to blend it.
You can experiment with the mixture to find what you and your family likes: more coffee, ice cream or chocolate syrup. Also, for an evening treat you can use decaffeinated coffee.
This recipe is relatively quick, easy, and inexpensive, but it will become one of your favorite treats for the holidays (or year round).
